Lake County is one of the California’s hottest wine destinations along with being the home to Clear Lake; the largest natural freshwater lake in California.  Lake County is also the home of Mount Konocti, an ancient volcano that opened to offer one of the newest day hikes in the area. Places of interest in Lake county are: Clear Lake, Cobb Mountain, Lower Lake, Mt. Konocti and Lake County Wineries.

Clear Lake

Clear Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in California and one of the most ancient lakes on the North American continent, possibly the world. Also know as the “Bass Capital of the West”. It is home to numerous fishing tournaments. Along Fishing in Clear Lake , you can rent a Sailboat to sail, or rent Jet Skis, canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, and power boat to cruise around the lake. If you are a watcher then you can watch professional water skiers and wakeboarders who come from all over the world, practicing and competing on Clear Lake. Dan Nelson of Hoberg’s Club provides tours on to the Clear Lake. Bird watching is available from many vantage points around the lake. You can spot ducks, American white pelicans, blue and green herons,  mourning doves, horned owls, Cooper’s hawks, and bald eagles. You can also spot Butterflies dancing among the willows, cottonwoods, and several rare and colorful species of wildflowers available on the water’s edge.

Cobb Mountain

Cobb Mountain is a 4,722-foot-tall Pine-covered peak in the Mayacamas Mountain Range, named after John Cobb and family. Home to Dan Nelson Hoberg’s Club along with two golf courses, and magnificent scenery. Cobb Mountain are open to dogs (on leash), horses, and mountain bikes. As having a history in hot springs, Cobb Mountain is still rich with magic and allure. Cobb Mountain is a paradise for spa-goers who came from far and wide to soothe in the waters but today it is home to the largest complex of geothermal plants on earth.

Lower Lake

Lower Lake is home to numerous wineries  and vineyards. With a rock shop owned by prominent members of the Lake County Rockhounds.  As the gateway to Tuscan Village, Lower Lake turns into a miniature Italian town, complete with decorative buildings, small businesses, Terrill Cellars winery and tasting area, a charming wedding chapel, orchard, and amphitheater overlooking it all. The popular historical site is The “West’s smallest jail”. Also a geology display with a sample of raw gold, and artifacts from pioneer families.

Mt. Konocti

Mt. Konocti is the stunning backdrop for nearly every scene around Clear Lake. It is the 'Most Treasured Peak of Lake County'.

Lake County Wineries

Lake County is also called by its inhabitants “The Undiscovered Wine Country”. Tourists explore its high-elevation vineyards and vast and varied territory.  Dan Nelson of Hoberg’s Club tells that Lake County has a grape-growing history that actually dates back to the 1870s. Today, Lake County’s wine industry is booming with new, innovative wineries focused on sustainability, organic, and biodynamic principles and wines that are consistent award winners.
